Day 2 of El Salvador

Second post of the trip. :) Sorry this is so late. Been busy. :) Ya know? I gave my presentation to the church yesterday. That was exciting. The power went out so everything messed up. Bleh. It came on right before my presentation and the slideshow was off and the video didn't work. :( Made me so sad. But, I still did it, so yay!

I lost my schedule so once I find it I'll edit the post and put it on here. :)

Day 2 July 17th, 2011

First off, today is Sunday. It's hot and I have to wear a skirt. Oh, btw, I have to wear long capris or jeans everyday because that's how they believe Christians should dress, cool huh? :) Anyways, got up way too early because of the time distance and our iPod and phone wouldn't change the times. Gr. I tried a fried banana. Ew. After breakfast we went to the church and greeted the people. Everyone was so eager and kind. We sang for them, gave them a puppet show, acted goofy, gave testimonies, played with the kids and prayed. It was amazing, After all that we handed out seeds so they could plant food they could eat from. (That was so stressful because they wanted more and more and it was sad.) After all that "good" stuff we went to lunch at a fancy fast food place. We sat down and ordered but it was definitely fast food, although it took awhile to come out. We had fried chicken, fries, break and a little dessert. It was AWESOME. (Look at how I'm a fattie talking about how good the food was. Ha.) Afterwards we went to the missionaries home, had orientation, learned about Survivor 21 (I'll explain that after my journal entry) and started bagging clothes, toys, and shoes. When we were done we moved on to our next church service. I was AMAZING. The people there were so much more enthusiastic then the church before. The night service went along the same way that the morning day one did but I could just feel God pouring out. After blessing them they blessed us with their kindness. They had made us all cookies and prepared us some punch. Once we finished there we went to a restaurant named Nash and ate pizza and watched the WEIRDEST music videos. Came "home" to some kicking fireworks. Oooh! Right after I went potty I come back out with my skirt tucked into my underwear and didn't know and accidentally mooned two people. EMBARRASSING,  after that though we had a great devotional and planned for an awesome day tomorrow and then I climbed into bed. :)

<3

Okay. Survivor 21 is where two missionaries, Kenton and Lorin, stay in Los Heroes, one of the areas we went and helped, for 21 days and try to build a house each day. It's actually pretty cool. If you wanna check it out go to this website. survivorelsalvador.com/

Thanks for reading my faithful people. I love you guys. :)

Love always

Day 1 of El Salvador

The next seven posts will be directly from my missions journal, ending with a picture that captured the day for me, it will also include the agenda for the day. (according to the paper). I'm also gonna upload a picture of the day. :) I hope everyone enjoys it.

6:50 PM Team Arrives

Journal

Day 1 July 16th, 2011

I've experienced so many different things that already blow my mind. Before I get into that let me discuss my airplane rides. First off everyone got there on time, (Kendall, our leader, was late) which was a miracle in itself. Then we made it through security smoothly, another miracle. (Thank you Jesus!) Then came the waiting. It wasn't too long before we got to get on the plane and get our assigned seats. (That was new for me.) After a very short flight (about an hour) we grabbed lunch and high tailed it to our gate to meet the other half of the team. Before the team showed up, a couple of people who are natives from El Salvador came to us (didn't even know we were missionaries) and asked us to pray for a man that they had been watching. He was older and had something wrong with his brain. We got the chance to minister before we even left America. It was incredible. After all that good stuff, we got everyone situated and then flew into El Salvador (about two and a half hours, we had a two hour delay between flights). We breezed through customs and we went and found our missionaries, Kent and Lorin. (Their wives weren't there.) Once we all met up we hit up McDonalds for dinner. Which was better the US's and way better then the dinner on the plane (it was a crusty looking sandwich that had had black bread that was really hard and a nasty mustard). Ew. On our way "home" we learned a lot of new rules.

1. Do NOT flush the toilet paper. Small pipes.
2. Do NOT drink any water they don't approve of.
3. Do NOT eat anything unless they say so.
4. Do NOT leave the hotel on account of the gang violence.
5. Do NOT even think about eating without washing your hands and then Germ-Xing.

On the way home I also discovered some new things. All fast food delivers. At every restaurant there's a police officer stationed with a sawed off shot gun. Puma is a gas station name. (We may have those in the US but I've never seen them.) There's a "Chuck E' Cheese" type place that stinks in comparison (stinks fun wise, better food wise) named Nash. When we got to the hotel we settled in, had a quick devotional meeting, (learned about what we're gonna do for the week and heard God's Word and prayed over safety, the people, and blessings) and went to bed. My bunkmate and I stayed up late and talked. She's pretty awesome. I was SO blessed by her. That's it for the night.

Please excuse this if it doesn't make sense, I was very tired when I wrote this. I hope everyone enjoys the next several posts. I love you all and hope my short little excerpts bless you in anyway possible. My life was changed forever in El Salvador. Love you guys.

Love,
Jade Bunny

El Salvador?!?!

'Ello everyone!

This one is going to be short and sweet. :)

I am leaving for El Salvador tomorrow morning with my team and our leader for a missions trip. We will be ministering to people everywhere by interacting with the children, helping anyone and everyone ;), putting roofing on houses, guiding people to God and loving people. :) I know some of that doesn't make sense but when I get back I will be able to explain better.

While in El Salvador I am going to keep a journal everyday (hopefully) and talk of what we have done for the day and talk about what God has done in my life, in the life of my team, and in the lives of the people we are ministering too.

To everyone that is reading my blog please keep me and my team in your thoughts and your prayers for a safe trip and for a spiritual blessing. I cannot wait to return to the blogging scene and talk about what has happened.

My parents have spoiled me for my leaving. :) So has my boyfriend. I've been taken out to my favorite restaurants, eaten my favorite foods, and barely paid for it. ;) I also got new clothes and a nice new backpack for my travels. YAY! I feel so special and loved. Especially with everyone telling me they're supporting me on Facebook. :)

I better get off and pack! I think we're leaving at 7:30 (?) and I haven't packed at all. I'm just now finishing my laundry and finishing updating my iPod. lol.

Next time you hear from me it'll be about my trip to El Salvador.

Love you guys. <3

Forgetful Ramblings

Hello everyone :)

I missed you guys. I OFFICIALLY have 9 followers! YAY! I feel so special. I have recently been up to NOTHING. Well, except for canoeing for the first time, floating for the first time, camping for the first time, and my best friend getting engaged. AND falling in love with new tv shows.

Like how I just threw the engagement in there?

Yep. My best friend who has had a boyfriend for less then half a year got engaged before me. A girl who has had a boyfriend for three years. But, it's okay. I'm not saying he's a douche bag who's afraid of getting engaged. (THERE! I FIXED IT!) Even if he asked tomorrow I still would be iffy on it (but not really, I'm just saying that to make my parents feel better) because waiting is important. Especially because of where my life is now. I'm about to start college, something I have worked SO hard on, and about to get a job. I'm about to start my life. Why add a husband to that? You know?

4th of July was pretty sweet. I loved it and loved the people that were there and loved the beautiful fireworks. I know this LOVELY blog is super short but there isn't much I can say...

Oh! I have done All State Choir for 4 years and this year instead of me it's my sister. I dropped her off and practically bawled all the way home and all day and I probably will the rest of the time. I love her and miss her. She's pretty much my best friend. lol. I'm such a loser. :)

I leave for my missions trip on the 16th. I'm kinda stressing... I have a mandatory meeting this Saturday! WISH ME LUCK MY 9 FOLLOWERS! I will definitely have a SUPER long blog for when I come back from my missions trip. I'll even post pictures. (Pray it works this time.)

When I'm gone, PLEASE pray for me and my travels and my ministry and for all the people going with me.

Onto the camping trip. Before last Thursday the closest I came to a camping was getting in an RV and sleeping in there, using the real potty, real shower. NOW, I have peed in a river, bathed in a river and slept in a tent. I am so awesome. I even got on a 4 wheeler and drove it. Aren't I incredible? I mentioned right before the trip that would never do that. :)

The new shows I am currently watching are Necessary Roughness and Suits. Check them out. Seriously. They're really good. They're both on USA and are pretty serious shows. Which I normally don't like but right now I am LOVING them.

In a few short hours I'm trying out a new church with some friends. Once again, wish me luck. Thanks peeps. I do awful with new people. lol. <3

I happen to love you guys, I really do. :) I'm sorry this one is short and weird but I haven't had time to really put my thoughts together.

Love you guys.
:)

P.S. I had to edit this because I forgot to name it. Tehe. :) SILLY me.

Late Ramblings

Guess who's back in the game? Me!

It's been a bajillion years since I have written and quite a lot has happened since then...

In the FOREVER long (but really short actually) time that I've been gone I have been sick, been on vacation, gone to church camp, spent time with friends, seen tons of movies, and spent time with family.

For vacation we went to the mysterious land called Branson. :) I joke of course. We haven't been there in five years and we decided to go back, check it out ya know? We did two days of Silver Dollar City (as a close friend of mine put it "Steal Your Dollar City"), ate at two awesome restaurants, Lamberts and Fuddruckers, and went to the Titanic Museum.

Lambert's, home of the thrown rolls, is one of the yummiest home-cooked meals you could get at a restaurant. Not only do you get a huge serving of your main course and sides, they also have pass arounds. I loved it, can you tell? Fuddrucker's is another delicious restaurant with adventurous burgers (buffalo, cow, wild boar, and elk). They also have normal foods, like chicken strips, fries, onion rings, hot wings. The good ol' stuff.

The Titanic Museum was a little life changing. When you arrive you get a card with an individuals name on it, you get a story of their life, and then wait to find out if your person survived. Throughout the museum you get to see pictures taken on the Titanic of the water, passengers, views, you also get to see how they "lived" on the Titanic. Something I learned while at the museum is that not only rich people traveled on board but also poorer people did as well, and why? Not because they wanted to see how majestic the Titanic was but to travel to America to change their lives. Every individuals story on that ship was special and beautiful. The Titanic was a sad tragedy.

Afterwards, I went to church camp. It was my 8th? 9th? year and my last, which makes me very sad. Church camp is really special to me. I didn't get saved at church camp (in all 8 years) but I did get filled with the Holy Spirit, felt a calling to music ministry, and met some incredible people and friends. This years evangelist was Neil Hubbard. Now, I personally knew him because of All State and have adored him since the first year because of his kind nature, laughing heart, and love for God. When we decided to go to his church camp I was totally thrilled because I thought he would make happy, laughing sermons that would make us feel good about ourselves. I was so very wrong. He was blunt, honest, and very cutthroat. He gave some lifechanging sermons and said some beautiful words. There's a video he played that touched my heart in a way that hasn't been touched in a long time. (I'll post the link at the bottom, please feel free to watch.)

Since I've been back from all those fun events I finally hung out with that best friend I told you about. yay! I'm not such a loser anymore! Went to the mall and bought some amazingly cute clothes, went to dinner at a nice restaurant, and also saw Soul Surfer.

I also went out with this awesome girl from school, I have friends, YAY!

Soul Surfer is based on the true story of Bethany Hamilton, the girl whose arm was bitten off by a shark. It tells of how she struggled with the lifechanging event and how she changed others lives. I loved it and cried during the whole movie.

And I also saw Green Lantern. I read the review from People Magazine, they totally trashed the movie. Called every part of it awful. I absolutely loved it. It wasn't awful in the least. Except some acting sucked. I highly recommend it to anyone who likes superhero movies.

Tomorrow I'm taking my sister out to lunch and taking her to see the movie Prom? Wish me luck. :)

I love you guys so much and I'm having fun writing again, I really missed it. I plan to get back to working out this week, I went from not being busy at all to being busy nonstop. I'm happy. :) But getting back to working out is very important. Wish me some more luck!

Signing off,
Crazy. Eighteen. Girl.

Sick Ramblings...

Sup peeps?

I've decided it's probably best to post once a week that way I don't have to constantly come up with new things to talk about in each post. :)

Anywaysss...

Since I've started running I've lost 4 pounds. :) Go me! I skipped running Saturday because I really worked my muscles Friday and I had to skip yesterday because I got really sick...

Yeah... I had a REALLY high fever of about 103. That was seriously no fun, lemme tell ya.

So, I think I'm just gonna say a day then talk about what I did. :)

Monday: you already know because I posted on last Monday.
Tuesday: I went out to lunch with a friend and then we went shopping, that was actually a lot of fun, I've missed going out with people.
Wednesday: I don't really remember... Nothing major if I've already forgotten though, huh?
Thursday: Pretty much the same as Wednesday... lol. :)
Friday: We went and got cupcakes! :D And I worked out majorly! I'm sure I also worked out Wednesday and Monday... And some other day! Also went out to dinner with my sister. :)
Saturday: Went to the movies with the boyfriend:) We saw X-Men and it was AWESOME. Yep yep yep. Then we went to my youth pastors celebration dinner. That was actually fun.
Sunday: The day that was hell. I got so sick. I was bawling my eyes out just from the pain, it was so awful... :(
Today: Went to the doctor, I only gots a virus and the worst should be over, so YAY! Yep... And my daddy took me to lunch. I feel so special. :D

Don't I lead the most exciting life?

OH! The girl I mentioned a few posts ago, the one who was my best friend in high school, we've been reconnecting a little so that makes me feel better and less sad and pathetic. lol.

ANYWAYS!

I'm gonna jet and take a nap since that should make the sickness less awful. :)

I love you guys, my faithful email getters, followers, and friends.

KEEP UP THE GOOD WORK!

Signing off,
Crazy. Eighteen. Girl.
